Kabut,
Dalam kenangan pergolakan bumi pertiwi
Mendung,
Pertandakah hujan deras
Membanjiri asa yang haus kemerdekaan
Dia dan semua yang ada menunggu keputusan sakral

Serbu.... Merdeka atau mati.. Allahu Akbar
Titahmu terdengar kian merasuk dalam jiwa
Dalam serbuan bambu runcing menyatu
Kau teruskan bunyi-bunyi ayat suci
Kau teriakan semangat juang demi negeri
Kau relakan terkasih menahan terpaan belati
Untuk ibu pertiwi..

Kini kau lihat,
Merah hitam tanah kelahiranmu
Pertumpahan darah para penjajah keji
Gemelutmu tak kunjung sia
Lindungan-Nya selalu dihatimu

Menghisap sebatang lisong
melihat Indonesia Raya,
mendengar 130 juta rakyat,
dan di langit
dua tiga cukong mengangkang,
berak di atas kepala mereka
Matahari terbit.
Fajar tiba.
Dan aku melihat delapan juta kanak-kanak
tanpa pendidikan.
Aku bertanya,
tetapi pertanyaan-pertanyaanku
membentur meja kekuasaan yang macet,
dan papantulis-papantulis para pendidik
yang terlepas dari persoalan kehidupan.
Delapan juta kanak-kanak
menghadapi satu jalan panjang,
tanpa pilihan,
tanpa pepohonan,
tanpa dangau persinggahan,
tanpa ada bayangan ujungnya.

1. Character Education According to Lickona
